Our business volunteering projects help community organisations access the business skills they need to support and strengthen their work and operational capacity.

In 2016, we connected 359 business volunteers to over 50 community organisations in Islington.

We work with organisations to identify business needs and link the skills, experience and interests of employees to opportunities that meet these needs in a range of ways:

  • Business skills volunteering: Connecting volunteers with the time and expertise required to support organisations and their employees through pro-bono support and skills sharing in areas such as business/strategic/financial planning, HR, IT, marketing
  • Mentoring & coaching: Matching business managers and leaders with directors and senior staff in the voluntary and not-for-profit sector
  • Board builders: Helping to recruit and place professionals, with the business experience and expertise required, on community organisation boards

Making meaningful matches

We create successful partnerships through spending time understanding what the community organisations we support are trying to achieve, and the challenges they face. This is at the very heart of what we do at the BIG Alliance.

Facilitating introductory meetings and providing ongoing support ensures that the relationships we build are meaningful, meet the needs of the community and result in a sustainable impact.
