Our Education Programme

Our mentoring programme runs in
secondary schools, colleges and sixth forms across Islington.

Since our establishment in 2012, we have expanded our Education outreach programme
across schools, colleges and sixth forms in Islington. We work with volunteers from local businesses to support young people to prepare for the world of work
and help them get a head start in their future careers.

Our Mentoring Works programme engages with students in Year 10, Year 12 and Year 13.
Mentors also provide individual support to students with special educational needs in our
bespoke mentoring partnership with Samuel Rhodes School.

Mentoring Works

Our flagship education programme, Mentoring Works, matches volunteer mentors from local businesses to students in secondary schools, colleges and sixth forms across Islington.

Mentors and students develop a supportive relationship in which young people are encouraged to expand their visions of what they want to achieve in life, with a particular focus on careers.

Our mentoring programme offers students a vital employability focus that supports them to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the ever-changing job market.

Mentoring Works objectives:

Introduce young people to the world of work

  • Raise aspiration

  • Enable students to identify career goals

  • Increase students’ employability through the development of ten key skills

BIG in Education

Aside from our flagship mentoring programme, we provide students with tailored support from our business volunteers by organising bespoke workshops, career insight visits and supporting students to find work experience placements.

These opportunities focus on helping our students increase their employability skills to get them career-ready.
