Andy’s experience as a CoRe volunteer

Name: Andy Wiley

Company and role:
Managing Director, Macquarie Group

BIG Alliance programme: CoRe

Organisation you’ve been matched with: The Outside Project

Why did you decide to volunteer on this specific programme?
I wanted to use my skillset outside of the day job to help a small organisation.

How have you found the programme so far? What have you enjoyed?
It has been really interesting so far. I’ve enjoyed learning about The Outside Project, what they do day-to-day, the challenges they face, and how we can help them.

What do you hope to have achieved by the end of it?
We hope to have materially improved the financial management control and put them on a sound footing for implementation of a new accounting system.

What advice would you give to your colleagues who are thinking about volunteering?

I would highly recommend it. It is very refreshing stepping away from the day job and reflecting on the skills that you have developed and how you might be able to apply these to really help a small organisation.

Do you work for a company or community organisation that would be interested in the CoRe programme? If so, contact jonathan.tait@thebigalliance.org.uk
